There are multiple resets you can do on your phone such as soft, recovery and factory.
Soft Reset
A soft reset can be done if you're experiencing problems with Apps, for example, or if the phone is running slow.
To carry out a soft reset, hold the Power Button down for 10-12 seconds and the device will reset, powering off then re-booting.
Note: A soft reset will not remove any data.
Factory Reset - Using phone menus
Backup the data on your device before performing a Factory Reset as this will remove all data and downloads from the phones internal storage. It will not erase any of the system software or updates on the device.
To Back Up the Data:
Go to Settings > Select System > Tap on Back up > select the location that you wish to save the data to and select Back up now.
To Factory Reset:
Go to Settings > tap on System > Reset options.
There are multiple options including but not restricted to:
Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth
Reset App preferences
Erase all data (factory reset)
Select “Erase all data” there will be a list of the impact to the storage on the Device.
You will be prompted to confirm your identity, then requested to tap “Erase all data".
Recovery Mode - Factory Reset
Recovery Mode is useful if you have a blank screen, or the device does not turn on properly.
Note: Back up is not an option in Recovery Mode, so you will lose anything not synced when carrying out this reset.
To enter Recovery Mode, with the phone turned off, press the volume up button and connect the device to its charger.
Power off the phone by holding the power button for 20 seconds or until the phone turns off.
When the phone turns off, immediately insert the USB cable into the phone and hold the down-volume button on the phone until you see a new screen with menu options.
The next screen should show ‘Recovery mode’ options menu.
Note: The text on this screen may be small.
Tap the down-volume button to navigate to ‘Recovery mode’ if it is not already showing.
Tap the power button to execute.
The phone will restart and after about 20 seconds show a ‘dead’ Android icon.
Press and hold the power button and tap the up-volume button. This will bring up a new menu.
Using the volume buttons to navigate, scroll to 'Wipe data/factory reset'. This will wipe any user data from the phone with the exception of any data on an SD card.
Tap the power button to select, then confirm. The phone should start normally and go through the setup process.
